fishwife?

As you can see in the picture, my wife is a fish.

When I showed this picture to a fish expert (Brad), this is what he said:

"Wow, that is freakin' weird. This fish (marine species) is rarely seen in the wild let alone in captivity. It is commonly mistaken for a mermaid, obviously those don't exist. This fish typically burrows into the substrate and will lie in wait for smaller fish to pass close by at which point it will attack it's prey. This fish likes to build a "bubble" around it's lair at night for protection. The "bubble" is actually a mucus/silicate plug which is broken and rebuilt each day. This is what's known as a "Bride of Poseidon" fish. I don't know the scientific name."

what I've been up to

For those of you who are not aware of this, I have married and am living with a German named Eva. Wedding/party will occur at some point in the future.

Sudden, unannounced marriages are a sort of tradition in my family. Both sets of grandparents did this, as did my brother. Grandma Sue informed the family of her marriage via telegraph.

This is our wedding picture, taken the same day we went to the Denver County Clerk:

She grew up in East Berlin. She plays the flute (much better than me) and runs marathons (much faster than me). She fences, but I'm still ahead of her on that one.

Here is her blog.

More announcements to come.
